Weatherproofing, Final Paint & Full Calibration

Goal

The finish line. Everything works — now make it bulletproof and beautiful. This is the “last 10%” that other J5 builders say takes as long as the first 90%. Give it the full week.

Day-by-Day Tasks

1	Conformal coat all PCBs	Spray conformal coating (Amazon ~$20)	Protect electronics from moisture. Remove from robot → spray → let dry 24hr → reinstall.
1-2	Cast silicone gaskets	3D-print molds, pour silicone (Amazon ~$25)	Gaskets for every panel seam, electronics bay lid, battery compartment.
2	Install IP-rated enclosures for exposed electronics	Amazon ~$40	Any boards not inside the main chassis get their own sealed box.
2-3	Swap remaining interior bolts to stainless steel	McMaster ~$30	Exterior was already SS from Tier 2. Now interior matches. Full corrosion resistance.
3-5	Full automotive paint job	Strip → sand → primer → base → metallic → chrome accents → 2K clear coat (~$100)	Takes 3 days minimum — proper paint needs cure time between coats. Use multi-color 3D-printed parts as masking guides. Wear respirator for 2K clear.
5-6	Final assembly — reinstall all painted/weatherproofed components	Clean bolt-up	Take your time. Thread locker on every critical bolt. Torque to spec.
6	Full calibration	Python script, servo config	Recalibrate all 39+ servos with new arm structure + pneumatic neck. Update config file.
6-7	Full system test	All systems simultaneously	Voice, vision, drive, arms, tracks, stairs, 3D scanning, object grasping, navigation. Run through every capability.
7	Final safety audit	Checklist	E-stop, pinch points, battery cutoff, RC override, obstacle avoidance, stall detection, pneumatic pressure relief, weather seals.
7	RaptorX: Final full-body scan	RaptorX, full-color	Complete digital twin of finished Tier 3 J5. Archive this — it’s your reference for all future maintenance and modifications.
